This week's menu and events calendar

Greetings earthlings...

Connie and the Troublemakers were such a nice band! Thanks to them and to all who braved the ice and snow to attend last Friday night's festivities. It was a lovely time and we hope that Connie and company will come again.
And hopefully this week will be a bit more reasonable, weatherwise.

This week we're pleased to announce that Joan Dye Gussow, author of This Organic Life, will be dining at the Chez for lunch on Wednesday. While Ms. Gussow won't be giving a presentation at the Chez, or doing a formal book signing, we're sure she wouldn't mind a respectful request for an autograph on your copy of her book. Don't have a copy? There are fresh issues available at the Bookcellar, right next door to the Chez.

On Thursday evening, our second open mic will be held, hosted by Jamie Curry with special guest Doug Thompson. The open mic is such a nice time; we hope you'll be able to come. Music starts at 7 p.m.

On Friday night we'll be introducing our Irish Jam night, with members of Flip of the Coin. An Irish Jam generally means an informal accoustic jam, with good fellowship and music freely offered. Music will start at 8:00 and run until 11 p.m. After this Friday, the Irish Jam will be held every second Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m.

March 5th marks our India Night event. I'm really excited by the way this is coming together. As we predicted last week, the Chez will close for a few hours that afternoon, from 3:00 to 6:30, for preparation for the event, and I think it's safe to say that the transformation that occurs then is going to be impressive.
Susan and Sam will give two shows, the first starting at 7, the second starting roughly between 8:30 and 9:00. The first seating will be the dinner show, and the second will feature simple finger foods meant to go well with wine and beer. Sultan seating reservations are available for both shows. Call today to book your table. Seating if filling up fast. Limited walk-in seating will be available on a first come, first served basis.

In other news, our friends at Global Rhythm magazine were impressed enough by the circumstances that led to Dennis Kucinich getting lunch and dinner at the Chez to ask me to write a feature story detailing how the whole thing came to be, with a bit of information about how a macrobiotic vegan presidential candidate is supposed to feed himself as he travels the United States. Watch for the story to publish in May. The publisher thinks a cover blurb is appropriate for the piece, and we're hoping that Dennis will have a few moments to give us a quote or two about where he's eaten on his odyssey.
Global Rhythm magazine is available by subscription or at the Bookcellar next door to the Chez.

Here's the menu for this week. We're adding new things all the time, and you might want to check out the extended brunch menu. This week we're proud to be adding freshly baked cinnamon rolls and Vietnamese iced coffee to the Saturday menu. Pie lovers take note that there'll be banana cream pie on Thursday night this week. Also available on Thursday night, special for the open mic crowd, is homemade pizza by the slice. And new additions to our regular breakfast and lunch menu include rice pudding and blueberry pancakes for breakfast, and vegetarian bbq for lunch.
See you soon!
